As the oldest local sorority in Wisconsin, Alpha Sigma has had a significant impact on campus life of the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater, and has positively influenced the lives of thousands of young women who have attended. Originally founded in 1898 as the Aureolia Society, the organization was restructured to its present form in 1931. Alpha Sigma sorority was organized to promote the social, intellectual, and personal growth of young women and has its designation as a social sorority.
To create a cohesive and recognizable identity for Alpha Sigma Sorority, I developed a comprehensive set of brand guidelines that honors the organization’s history while giving it a polished, contemporary look. The identity was built around Alpha Sigma’s mission, motto, personality, and more than 125 years of tradition.
The guidelines establish a consistent visual system through a refined color palette, complementary typography, and a collection of formal and informal logomarks. Designed as a practical resource for active members, alumnae, designers, and vendors, the finished guide makes it easier to maintain a consistent identity across the website, social media, apparel, printed materials, event promotions, and other communications.
To create a more modern and engaging online presence for Alpha Sigma Sorority, I redesigned the organization’s website and transitioned it from Squarespace to WordPress. The goal was to develop a site that better reflects Alpha Sigma’s personality, history, and strong sense of sisterhood while making information easier to find for prospective members, active members, and alumnae.
The redesign introduced a fresh visual style, more intuitive navigation, and a flexible page structure that allows the organization to update content as its needs evolve. Throughout the process, I reorganized existing information, refreshed the presentation of the sorority’s history and involvement, and created clearer paths for visitors interested in recruitment, philanthropy, events, and alumnae activities.
By rebuilding the website in WordPress, I created a more scalable and manageable platform that can continue to grow with the organization. The completed site balances Alpha Sigma’s long-standing traditions with a welcoming, contemporary design intended to connect generations of members and introduce prospective members to the chapter.
